DE KALB, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck involving Missouri teenager in Buchanan County.
According to the Patrol, 18-year-old Wyatt Gardner of Rushville was driving a 2004 GMC 2500 on Highway JJ at 11:40 p.m. Sunday when he attempted to turn onto Old North Road.
He lost control of the vehicle which went off the road and down an embankment, before stopping in a creek. A passenger, 18-year-old Cassandra Donaldson of Faucett, was pronounced dead at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph three hours later.
A 15-year-old occupant was uninjured. No one was wearing their seatbelt. Gardner was arrested and charged with felony DWI.
